The fourth-generation fuel-cell vehicle is a result of 10 years of development and work. The model features hydrogen and fuel-cell technology, and it is apart of a program which had already logged 434,959 miles in global testing.
The new GM HydroGen4 fuel-cell vehicle will use 440 single cells which combine hydrogen and oxygen from the air, to produce electricity. The fuel-cell stack will provide power to the 98-hp electric motor and it will allow speeds from 0-100km/h in around 12 seconds, with a top speed of 160km/h.
The HydroGen4 is also connected to a 1.8kWh buffer battery which will store extra energy from a regenerative braking system. There will be a carbon fibre tank which holds 4.2kg of hydrogen at a pressure of 700 bars, which will allow for a range of 199miles.
The HydroGen4 is said to be able to run in sub-zero temperatures, and it is designed to be as safe as a conventional vehicle.
